La città è dominata dal Duomo di San Giorgio la più grande di tutte le chiese di Pirano, situato su un’altura da dove lo sguardo abbraccia un panorama che si estende su ben tre stati. La chiesa deve il suo nome al patrono della città, San Giorgio, che avrebbe salvato Pirano durante una tempesta.

The town is dominated by the Cathedral of St. George, the largest of all the churches in Piran, located on a hill from where the view embraces a panorama that extends over three countries. The church owes its name to the patron saint of the town, St. George, who is said to have saved Piran during a storm.
