TARCENTO. VILLAFREDDA. - a photo on Flickriver

            SALONE DEL PALAZZO LIRUTI

Situato in posizione un po' discosta lungo la strada che anticamente congiungeva Udine a Tarcento e a Gemona, il castello di Villafredda si suppone sorto sulle basi di un antico fortilizio, probabilmente costruito intorno alla fine XIV secolo. 
L'antico castello ha perduto totalmente l'austerità che forse un tempo possedeva come opera difensiva, acquisendo invece l'immagine di un complesso residenziale di campagna.
Il luogo venne documentato per la prima volta nel 1319.
Nel XVII secolo entrò a far parte dei possedimenti dei Liruti, mentre nel tempo non si registrano importanti fatti d'arme o di distruzioni avvenute.

HALL OF THE LIRUTI PALACE

Located in a slightly distant position along the road that once connected Udine to Tarcento and Gemona, the castle of Villafredda is supposed to have arisen on the foundations of an ancient fortress, probably built around the end of the 14th century.
The ancient castle has totally lost the austerity it perhaps once possessed as a defensive work, acquiring instead the image of a residential complex in the countryside.
The place was documented for the first time in 1319.
In the 17th century it became part of the possessions of the Liruti, while over time there are no important facts of arms or destruction that took place.
