Struan Hill Road View - a photo on Flickriver

            My laptop kept reminding me that I was running out of disk space so I started to look through my saved photos to see what I could safely delete. I came across the thumbnail for this image which was so badly exposed that I couldn't make out what it was, so I stuck it in Adobe Camera Raw and lo and behold I managed, without too much effort, to end up with this. It's a view taken from the hill road from Portree to Struan looking down towards Loch Beag and Ardtreck Point. It's not a world beater but too good for the rubbish bin. 

The files from the Leica SL are so easy to work with, being very flexible. I love the files but not the ergonomics. Leica has opted for a minimalist approach with only as few buttons, none of which has any function labels. As I have umpteen cameras, all of which I like to use, I never spend enough time with the Leica for the user interface to be lodged in my memory. My wife has recommended a camera clearout to solve the problem but although I do occasionally offload a camera, I'm only tinkering at the edges. I can always think of something I like about every system and something I'm not so keen on. 

I've just noticed that I've taken this fully open at F4. Not ideal for a landscape. I think it must have been a quick grab shot. When I was working on the image I also noticed that I had deliberately underexposed it. I can't imagine what I was thinking of. Probably I wasn't thinking at all!
