Illustrated History of Belgium - a photo on Flickriver

            Most Belgians who grew up in the 50s and 60s (like me) of the last century to recognize immediately the illustrations that Jean-Léon Huens made in that period for the famous series: A Country's Glory or "The Illustrated History of BELGIUM".  

The Illustrations spread over six volumes with their recognizable green covers are no doubt the most comprehensive set of illustrations of the Belgian history ever.
 They appeared between 1949 and 1961, published by Historia. In each album could be stuck 80 to 100 images, which would trade savers for Historia points.
 The nearly 550 prints, which are each accompanied by a short text, show us the highlights and key figures from Belgian history.
 For the simple captions which always accompany the illustrations Huens enlisted the help of Jean Schoonjans, professor at the University Faculties Saint-Louis in Brussels.
