El temple de Sulis Minerva / Sulis Minerva temple

Això és el que queda visible (sota terra i dins el museu arqueologic de Bath) del temple romà de Aquae Sulis. Com es pot imaginar, estava dedicat a la deesa Sulis Minerva, la que feia brollar la font termal.

Es força interessant perquè és només hi ha dos temples coneguts a la Britania romana (l'altre era el dedicat al Divus Claudius a Camulodunum / Colchester). De fet, del propi temple poc en queda, però sí dels edificis entorn seu, del altar exterior pels sacrificis i fins i tot el cap de la estatua de la deesa.

This is what remains visible (underground and inside the archaeological museum of Bath) of the Roman temple of Aquae Sulis. As you can imagine, it was dedicated to the goddess Sulis Minerva, who "made" the hot spring flow.

It is quite interesting because there are only two known temples in Roman Britain (the other was the one dedicated to Divus Claudius in Camulodunum / Colchester). In fact, little remains of the temple itself, but of the buildings around it, of the exterior altar for the sacrifices and even the head of the statue of the goddess.
