Driving to Arkansas Mississippi - April 2018 2

            We wanted to visit Arkansas while staying at the Casino in Tunica, Mississippi.  We asked one of the bartenders at the casino for a recommendation of some place pleasant to visit nearby in Arkansas.  She sent us to Helena, Arkansas.  She assured us there were resturants where we could have lunch.  And she told us there was an active blues music environment there.  

We drove through miles of empty cotton fields an swamps to get to Helena.  When we arrived we found no restaurants and no music.  We found a poverty stricken town.  We saw open drug deals on the street corner.  And we found out later the blues musi scene happens once a year at a blues festival in October.   I have a feeling the bartender had a big laugh at our expense.
