            CTA "Single" at Adams-Wabash in the Loop, January 1963. Cars 1-4 (delivered in 1960) came equipped with experimental trucks, control, propulsion and braking equipment, and this nifty red paint scheme. They were part of an ongoing test program with suppliers GE and Westinghouse to develop the next generation of high-performance rapid transit equipment. The red paint scheme lasted only to 1964, so I never saw it other than in photos such as this one.
