Up in the canopy

            One of the many local bush regeneration groups, BERG, has been working recently in the rabbit paddock in Mt Martha. Carolin and I sometimes also do some work whilst walking the dogs there. 

Today, I took the drone along to see what I could achieve. I concentrated on low level work and practicing manouvering, and ended up shooting more film than still photos. I quite like this one, in the canopy of the gum trees, looking north.

Given the proximity to houses, I was careful to avoid irritating the residents and so kept the trip short. I think filming from the bottom of the paddock may be more successful next time.

The "Rabbit Paddock" was previously open grassland, according to what we have been told. It is bordered to the east by Hopetoun Creek, which runs into Balcombe estuary on the northern border. It is nice to see it returning to native bushland. We often see Echidnas and other wildlife there.
