Vertical Boilered Fernilee, on a goods demonstrator. Bressingham Steam Gardens. bw 04 05 2019

            Fernilee is a vertical boilered locomotive, of recent build, interestingly, from a collection of spare parts.

The engine, (pistons & valve block) came from a Victorian Steam Launch. Originally built for low pressure steam, these were strengthened for use in this locomotive.

Fernilee originally operated on the restored Penryhn Quarry Railway in North Wales, until that line closed. It will be based at Bressingham for the foreseeable future after an agreement.was reached with its owner.

The signwriting on the tender is 'Stockport Corporation Water Works'.'
