Savannah Sparrow | Passerculus sandwichensis labradorius | Bruant des prés

            Passerculus sandwichensis labradorius is the subspecies of Savannah Sparrow that breeds in Newfoundland, Labrador and northern Quebec. This one was photographed near the inner harbour of the town of Renews on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula. It is perched on Oenothera biennis, Common Evening Primrose.

When I got my camera on it I was quite excited to have a bird sitting on a flower. When processing the image, however, I found the yellow and green a little on the garish side and had to work carefully. I do like the way the primrose's yellow matches the sparrow's supraloral.
