Shavuot Apple Still Life on Paper - My First Sketch After 60 Years Or So

I believe my last previous sketch of an apple using pencil on paper was a long time ago... I wasn't satisfied with those sketches, so i stopped learning to draw... This one is not very good, to put it charitably. It's really terrible.!! In my defense, I just started playing with the pencil, and an outline of an apple emerged. I had little to do with it. I am pleased with the stem. I really did try to add a stem, and it's not too terrible, considering my skill level... I am definitely not an artist!!!

This is not really a pencil sketch, it is an online creation using a computer drawing program by Dr. Doob called Harmony. It is a really fun tool, and i will probably play with it some more once I find it online again... Other artists create rather magnificent sketches and drawings with it:

Dr. Doob is a fabulously creative person. I loved his fractal design and display type software that was on Picnic... I hope he will add that software, and perhaps this program too, into PicMonkey.

I attended a funeral, in the Jewish cemetery in Tucson, of a young man in his forties, with lovely children and a beautiful wife... It was quite a shock... He was a joy to all who knew him. A sweet person who made everyone happy...

I guess that explains in part, my reverting back to an early memory of me sketching an apple for my Uncle Bernie, who was an artist and a very sweet person...

In addition, tonight begins the Feast of Weeks, Shavuot in Hebrew. It is at the end of 49 days of purifying ourselves to remove the encrustations of evil that overwhelmed us in Egypt before the Exodus....

We focus on dairy dishes in The Land of Milk and Honey.
