            The beauty of these challah loaves astonished me when I took them out of the oven!! I didn't expect them to look so good...

After waiting a while, at dinner we tasted them and they were delicious!! I had the nervous thought they would not taste good because the dough did not have enough water in the recipe. Fortunately they are delish...;))

Okay, this was my first attempt at baking a challah in the last 55 years...;) I remember baking poppy seed and onion challot (plural of challah in Hebrew) many years ago, and they were delicious. I don't remember the process at all, so I am basically starting from scratch!! 
 
A few days ago I did buy a baking machine and tested it on two bread machine mixes, a sourdough mix and a whole wheat mix, one after the other. The bread machine mixes and bakes each loaf start to finish. There is no intervention after adding the liquid and dry ingredients in the proper order at the beginning, before turning on the machine.. The sourdough and whole wheat loaves were delicious...

To make the challah loaves, I used the bread machine only to mix the ingredients at the very beginning of the process. I have some photos of the machine and will add them later. I actually have an assistant, who baked bread a few years ago using a baking machine. That gave me the courage to start this deliciously successful experimental project.
