Surreal Carrot Mosaic a la Andy Warhol - Are These The First New Carrots Cultivated, Harvested, Cooked, and Eaten in Tucson in 2013?

            This carrot topped ballet dancer was grown from seed planted not very long ago. It and its fellow dancers was harvested today from the Tucson Community Garden at the Duffy School in Central Tucson, Arizona.
 
These carrots are sweet and very delicious. Fortunately, last week's hard freeze in record setting low temperatures had no effect on them.   I have some lovely blue glass plates that are just perfect for displaying orange fruits and vegetables...;)) The carrot tops are delicious as garnishes or cooked in soups... I remember my Mother of Blessed Memory sautéed carrots and used the tops in soups... She often mashed carrots with white potatoes and yams. She also made a fabulous tzimmes, which is a sweet carrot stew.
