GM Buses 5315, Piccadilly, Manchester, 1989

            There were very few Metrobuses built that did not feature bodies built by MCW, but Alexander and NCME bucked the trend with examples featuring their own bodywork styles. 

Aside of MCW bodied examples owned, both GMPTE and its successor GM Buses purchased examples of NCME bodied Metrobuses. Only thirty examples were built, all going to Manchester between 1985-1987 (5201-5210 & 5301-5320). These were coach-seated buses generally used on express work.

5315 pictured above was amongst the the last batch of ten, arriving in January 1987. Still relatively new in 1989, the vehicle is pictured in Piccadilly, Manchester on 15th April 1989. 
Today, sister bus 5208 survives in preservation and is beautifully restored to GM Buses condition. 

NCME Metrobus 5302 (later First 30285), also survived until recent years. Initially purchased for preservation by the SELNEC Preservation Society, it was eventually stripped for spares and sold for breaking in 2017.
