The Chicharro Sculpture, or Allegorical sculpture the Chicharro, is a bronze sculpture of a horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus), which has become one of Santa Cruz de Tenerife most beloved symbols.

Originally the sculpture was donated to the city by the Venezuelan Cultural Association's "Liqui-Liquis" and the city of Santa Cruz and the island of Tenerife as a gift. In 1979 it was located here

In 2000 the statue was stolen and it was sold in Valencia, Spain, where it narrowly escaped being melted for scrap metal. Despite this the original image was found in very bad condition, so the current replica has been created with only preserving the original image of the wave that seems to be jumped by the fish, as this wave was included in the new sculpture.

The current sculpture, as above, weighs approximately 600 kg and has been here since 11/2003 on a basalt stone

The tree is Drago de Canarias - Dracaena drago. Together with the blue chaffinch, the dragon tree (Dracaena draco) is one of Tenerife's symbols and has inspired many a legend and tale. This red-sapped tree grows slowly but has a very long lifespan, as is the dragon tree in Icod de los Vinos, which is estimated to be over 800 years old. Its flowers are white and it produces a round orangey coloured fruit. Wild dragon trees can be found at altitudes of 100 to 600 m (330 to 1,970 ft), but they are also grown for decorative purposes in some of Tenerife's squares and gardens such as this one.
