Transparent Mimicry. Himacerus mirmicoides, Ant Damsel Bug, on Ragwort, Jacobaea vulgaris, Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

            Here's a nymph of the Ant Damsel Bug. For protection against predators it mimics an Ant. The back of its thorax is pale or even transparent and suggests a narrow waist like that of Ants. Here it's foraging on bright yellow ragwort looking for small insects.
