264/365 - apple picking - a photo on Flickriver

            Pick your own apples started this weekend at a local orchard. It costs $25 for half a bushel. I must be getting old because I compare the cost to what it was when we first started doing this yearly tradition and I think it was $13 back then. 

PYO is much cheaper than buying the apples at the market, but it's not all about saving some money, to me it is more about enjoying the time being there.  We used to go as a family with the kids but they are much older now and don't want to do this anymore so now it is just my husband and I that go. 

This weekend you could pick Royal Gala, McIntosh, Cortland and Honey Crisp which other varieties available soon.  I picked just the Honey Crisp which is my favourite. They taste so good fresh and crisp right off the tree!
