Reading 94100 - a photo on Flickriver

For round two of the Railyard Telegraph Game I was tasked with building a caboose for Josh. His railroads of choice are Reading Company and Central Railroad of New Jersey. I chose to do a Reading caboose for the different color scheme and the opportunity to do a few fun new things with it.

The trucks are a modified freight car design (using leaf springs instead of coil springs) and also feature roller bearings that actually spin. The body of the car is hollow so that an interior can be added if Josh desires to do so. The cupola is also hollow, allowing me to fit a conductor (from the torso up) into it. The brakeman is hanging onto the back with a lantern, wearing proper PPE of course!

I plan to send the design for the trucks to l-gauge.org so that others can use them. Hopefully we'll see this rolling around a PennLUG layout in the very near future!
