"Bouncy Wheels Subway System" - a photo on Flickriver

            A Société de transport de Montréal MR-73 train arrives at Berri-UQÀM station on the Green Line. The Montreal subway system uses rubber-tired trains, as they are quieter and can handle steep grades better than traditional steel-wheeled equipment. The system does use steel rails and steel wheels as well as the rubber tires: this is how the system handles switches, and it is a safety feature in case of a flat tire.

Also notable is that since the entire system is underground, the rolling stock is not weatherproof! (Unlike NYC, it must not rain in the subway tunnels in Montreal...)
