Out at Sea - a photo on Flickriver

Out at Sea

            A Rockaway Park Shuttle train descends the grade from the South Channel Bridge onto the Rockaway Peninsula. The northbound and southbound tracks split here to form a flying junction for the lines to Far Rockway and Rockaway Park. The original LIRR construction of the line had a low drawbridge and a level junction immediately after making landfall on the Rockaway Peninsula.
