Foggy_Hawke - a photo on Flickriver

            This image has taken me far more post processing than I would like. I had trouble with posterisation, different patterns of water movement between frames in the pano (due to boats) and a computer crash before saving.

I have arried at an image I am pretty happy with. I have been thinking about how to convery mood or emotion in landscape imagery and I feel this image is heading in that direction. 

This is a 3 shot pano of the Hawkesbury River at Mooney Mooney. You may have seen several shots from this location over the years. That is because its just on the side of the freeway I frequent driving to see a client.

Each of the 3 pano frames comes from 5x30 second exposures stacked.

It was a lovely foggy morning. The fog never translates as well in photographs. It has to be at least 50% foggier than you think to show up nicely. Each extra bit of contrast you add saps some of that 'foggy' mood.

So this image is not really a photograph anymore. Its digital art. I hope you like it.

It took:

- stacking 5x30 second exposures
- stitching in autopano
- pro contrast and tonal contrast in NIK
- cloning
- surface blur to remove posterisation and to just smooth the water more
- masking
- silver efex
