THE UNEXPECTED... - a photo on Flickriver

THE UNEXPECTED...

            I haven't been down the field towards the junction for several years and I'm not sure about the reasons for going but on photographing trains in Worcestershire since 1979 I don't ever recall seeing a freight overtaking a freight. The only down side was that this coincided with a brief respite from the sunshine but it was to return soon afterwards.

66116 still in EWS livery heads through Abbotswood Junction on 19-3-25. The working is the 6V92 1032 Corby B.S.C. to Margam T.C. empty steel train and running 10 minutes late.

In the background is 66742 'ABP Port of Immingham Centenary 1912-2012' waiting in the loop.

It is hauling 6V84 0745 Clitheroe Castle Cement Gb to Avonmouth Hanson Sdg Gbrf service. Approaching the loop it had been running 20 minutes early and was still 14 early on departure from Abbotswood loop
