I wanted to celebrate "pulling the trigger" on a new telephoto lens by posting a telephoto shot, but then I remembered that most of my telephoto shots at WDW suck. This Illuminations shot is one of the better ones, but still it was better in my head than it actually turned out.

As for the lens.. I've been lusting after a 70-200/2.8 for over a year. I'd love to get the Sony, but $1500+ for one lens is so far out of the question for me that it isn't even worth considering for a nanosecond. Plus, having in-body stabilization makes the OEM vs third-party decision much easier.

My options were Sigma and Tamron, and I chose the Sigma due to faster and silent AF. I was going to buy one new for Christmas regardless, but was hoping to find used before then. Yesterday, I checked eBay at just the right time and found a screamin deal on a used copy including the matched 1.4x teleconverter (which I was planning on getting eventually anyway), and I jumped on it. With 10% Bing cashback, it was just $775 for both! (vs $1050 new)

I'm very excited for it to arrive! Maybe it will get a WDW workout in January.. we'll see ;)
