The Chinese Theater - a photo on Flickriver

The world famous Grauman's Chinese Theater, built by showman Sid Grauman, opened on May 18, 1927 with a premiere showing of Cecil B. DeMille's epic story of Jesus Christ, "King of Kings".

Thousands of people lined Hollywood Boulevard to catch a glimpse of a movie star, in the days before the internet or television even.

Owned now by TCL, and part of the Hollywood Highland complex (which I understand is going to undergo another renovation) the Chinese Theater still contains it's famous courtyard with stars' hand, footprints and signatures in cement, and still rises 90 feet above the boulevard.

A true "movie palace."
