When I was working, I called my spring trips my "Birthdaycations" because I always scheduled them during my birthday, which is May 1st. In 2019 I took my "Birthdaycation" up the coast to Seattle on the Amtrak Coast Starlight Train, and after a few days in the city, rented a car and drove to Olympic National Park and then down the Pacific coast back home.

This photo of a really amazing mossy covered tree was taken in the Hoh Rainforest part of the Olympic National Park. I encountered another photographer with a tripod getting ready to photograph the tree, and I took my photo with him in it. Normally, I'd digitally erase someone in the shot, but this is sort of a "human interest" photo.

I always love it when I see fellow photographers with so much gear. Sometimes multiple cameras and tripods, etc. (My own 20 pound camera bag is quite packed with lenses and additional cameras.) I never use a tripod, and I take multiple exposures of each shot for the HDR processing. As usual, I had a nice conversation with the photographer following taking my photo of the photographer and the tree.

The tree probably had a lot to say, but he wasn't talking.
