Royal Pier, Southampton - a photo on Flickriver

Burned to the ground by fire & left to rot.........only the landward side is in use today. In the background is the deep water Container Terminal costing multi-billions of pounds..........a fraction of that cost would re-build (too late for renovation) the old pier at the heart of the waterfront....
