            Lockheed Super Ventura at the Old Terminal Museum at Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas

The Super Ventura was a civilian conversion of the World War II Ventura medium bomber. The U.S. Navy designated the Ventura the PV-1, and the USAAF called it the B-34. It first saw service with the RAF in 1942.

The Ventura evolved from the earlier Electra, which first flew in 1934. Amelia Earhart was flying an Electra when she disappeared in a round-the-world flight with Fred Noonan in 1937.
