Houston and Santa Anna Meet - a photo on Flickriver

            Sam Houston was wounded in the foot at the Battle of San Jacinto. In the actual battle, General Santa Anna tried to escape by dressing as a common soldier; however, he was captured afterwards and surviving Mexican soldiers recognized him. So, this little vignette isn't exactly correct as it shows Santa Anna in dress uniform. However, the enactment lasts for only a half hour or so, so the person portraying Santa Anna doesn't have an opportunity to change clothes. This was in the 2025 reenactment of the battle.
