BNSF 1480 Buxton 13 Dec 06 - a photo on Flickriver

BNSF 1480, a GP15-1, leads a GP38AC, a former GP30, all decked out in Cascade Green, and the M-GFDNTW (Grand Forks, ND - Northtown, MN) south through the tiny town of Buxton, ND.

The GFDNTW and its counterpart NTWGFD were known to sport some interesting power (and that continues into 2018), but a trio of all-green Geeps, especially with a tiny tunnel motor GP15-1, was noteworthy. Which begs the question...why didn't I solely chase this train on this particular day? I can't remember why, but it might have something to do with just getting back from a deployment to the Middle East and wanting volume. Turns out this day wasn't that busy traffic-wise, but it was certainly a stand out. Besides this train, I also caught a coal empty with a trio of SD60s for power (www.flickr.com/photos/chris_paulhamus/49507408767/), and then I caught a train with a trio of Cascade Green SD40-2s up front (www.flickr.com/photos/chris_paulhamus/39771203242/). Cascade Green was still somewhat common on the BNSF in late 2006, but to catch two separate trains with nothing but a trio of standard cab BN goodness for power was not so common. I always liked the GP15-1...just a bummer I wasn't able to catch more of them.
