CN 5365 Thompson 19 Dec 06 - a photo on Flickriver

CN 5365 and 3 other EMDs lead the M-GFDNTW (Grand Forks, ND - Northtown, MN) south early in the day through Thompson, ND.

Even being so close to Canada, catching a CN unit was a rarity during my time up north. This particular unit was originally built for the Missouri Pacific in 1973 before eventually finding itself on the CN roster and noodle'd. About a year or so after this shot, the GFDNTW dropped the 'M' prefix and was 'upgraded' with an 'H', high-priority, prefix. If I remember from the time, that just meant an increase in horsepower per ton or something? My memory is faded from back then. But I did keep some notes, including the fact I caught this train later that same day:
