Don Chilito's, 2_wm - a photo on Flickriver

Sunday evening's dinner was the Poco Plate, with a beef enchilada, taco, rice and beans.

Don Chilito's has been in business probably 40 years. I've been going in there for 29, myself! Their website offers no history lesson.

When I first popped in there, at 18, I probably had never eaten in a true, family owned Mexican restaurant, to be able to compare, which I since have done many times.

Don Chilito's is an enigma--It's kind of "white people's Mexican food," yet tasty, and always busy.

It is served cafeteria style, with plates set on top of the stainless shelf, as customers pass by.

It is a dining out icon for people in the tony suburbs of Johnson County, of which I once was one.
