A coup sûr, on était perdu. Déjà 8 heures de marche. On errait sur le plateau, suivant quelques traces qui divergeaient au loin. Depuis combien d'années un randonneur n'était-il pas passé par là? Déjà au loin le trio de silhouettes avait disparu derrières les crêtes. Et je me demandais sérieusement s'il n'allait pas falloir contacter les secours. Après tout, j'avais 2 débutantes sous ma responsabilité.

On décide de perdre de un maximum d'altitude, de traverser une cheminée d'éboulis et d'aller au plus court. Sauve qui peut avant la nuit.

Et eux, ils étaient là! En train de faire des concours de plongeon dans l'eau glacée du lac d'altitude. Ils n'avaient jamais paniqué, le chemin avait toujours été le bon. Et nous, de notre côté, nous avions juste été incapables de lire correctement le topo. On était bien sur la variante de l'étape, le refuge ne se trouvait plus qu'à quelques dizaines de minutes, et on pouvait baigner dans l'eau froide.
