Badger!

I'm back from a super-short trip to Yellowstone, where I hadn't been since 2010. There were many great sights, of course, but the high point was probably this badger, an animal I've waited a long time to see.

While I was in the park I spoke to a couple of people who reported seeing a badger and coyote hunting cooperatively and playing together, which apparently is a reasonably common behavior. Here's a pretty great video with examples and explanation. Unfortunately, I didn't see that, but this guy/gal made me pretty happy all the same. S/he was digging this burrow in a hillside near Soda Butte Creek, then went on a little tour of other burrows, backing halfway in to each one and (I think) marking it with scent. American badger, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
