Ooids Formed Oolite in Gale Crater, Mars

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity acquired this image using its Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI), on May 22, 2016, Sol 1348 of the Mars Science Laboratory Mission.
All over the photo are ancient ooids (see red arrows). They were cemented together to form a sedimentary rock called an oolite. The ooids measure around 1 mm in diameter (see www.flickr.com/photos/105796482@N04/26764121100/).
