Sunset on a High Sierra Campsite - a photo on Flickriver

            On the final night of my 8-day backpack across the Sierras on the High Sierra Trail, I camped at Hitchcock Lake. Note my small tent among the rocks. It's about half a mile from the trail, and nearly everyone camps at Guitar Lake instead of here. 

The next morning, I got up and packed my camp in the dark, hiked over Mount Whitney, and descended all the way back to the Portal and civilization. It was 15 miles, 3000 ft up, and 6000 ft down that day.
