Moonrise over Half Dome - a photo on Flickriver

            The eclipsed moon rises over the monolith of Half Dome in California's Yosemite National Park. 

I figured out this alignment would be possible if I was on North Dome, and getting there from the valley floor was a rather long and steep hike. This photo is a single image and was shot with a star tracker operating at half speed in order to reduce the blur on the moon. Griff Joyce and Mark Vierra ascended Half Dome with the cables down in order to place the light for this photo--props to them.
