Lunar Eclipse - Single Exposure - a photo on Flickriver

When I photographed the lunar eclipse at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, I ran several cameras. My favorite shot ended up being a stack of 30-second exposures. However, I also ran two Sony A7m3 bodies doing single long exposures. This is a 3.5-hour single exposure and is the better of the two resulting images. I'm mostly posting this photo because it's an interesting comparison to the other image I posted.

The A7m3s have significantly lower "Christmas light" long exposure noise than the R bodies. That wasn't a problem for this image because the ambient temperature was around 20 F (-7 C), and long exposure noise decreases by half for each 6 C temperature change. However, I was surprised that the shadows of this image were crushed and had a significant green tint to them. I am reminded of reciprocity failure on film. Reciprocity failure is the non-linear response of film to low light levels, and it results in adjustments to expected exposure times, crushed shadows, and weird color shifts. I haven't heard of it on digital sensors, though.

This is probably one of the longer digital single exposures on Flickr...
