            I've wanted to photograph water in Death Valley's Badwater Basin for many years. It only fills about twice per decade, and I've always been out of state or overwhelmingly busy when it happened. The desire to catch this was one of the factors that motivated me to move back to California.

The tropical storm that destroyed basically every road in Death Valley in August had the one benefit of filling Badwater basin, the lowest point in the US. The park reopened October 15, and I finally made the trip out there last weekend. The forecast predicted totally clear conditions, but I was blessed by this sunset. Friday night's sunset made the whole trip worth it.
