Central Valley Lights - a photo on Flickriver

Charles Huang and I did a backpacking trip in Yosemite. We filmed timelapse, camped in unusual places, and slept 12 hours in the course of three nights. I shot 28 GB of photos and used 8 camera batteries over the course of the trip.

On the second night, we made the 10.5-mile, 6000-ft-gain hike to Clouds Rest and camped on the summit. Despite the fact that the peak was at an altitude of nearly 10,000 ft, there was hardly any snow. This image shows the view at night--the lights from California's Central Valley, about 100 miles away, illuminated the horizon above Half Dome and the other landmarks of Yosemite.
