Lag Tower 1 - a photo on Flickriver

Lag Tower 1

Lag Tower was the family seat of the Griersons of Lag. It has been reported that c. 1444 Vedast Grierson Laird of Lag, son to Gilbert Grierson (the 2nd) of Lag built this strong defensive tower. The last occupant of Lag Tower is believed to have been the notorious Sir Robert Grierson who, long before his death, vacated Lag for Rockhall Tower and his Dumfries townhouse. By the time of his death on December 31, 1733, the structure was considerably dilapidated and was later further reduced by fire at an unknown date.
