Caol

            The houses at Caol, with Ben Nevis as a backdrop. 1st December 1989, with DGA. I remember that day well, the conditions were perfect, one couldn't go wrong photographically! It was the last of about a dozen trips I made to Fort William that year while writing my book (more like a glorified magazine, really) 'Rails to the Isles' (Published by Ian Allan, 1990, long out of print). I'd been cursed by poor weather all year but the whole project was redeemed in one day - in December! Don't look too closely or you'll see the litter strewn along the shore - the beauty of the place is clearly lost on some residents. Kodachrome 64.
