On Tuesday, Boston officials will gather in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area to officially announce construction of what will be the largest life science research facility in that health research hot spot. 

The 705,000-square-foot facility will be partially occupied by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center which is leasing 360,000 square feet in the building. Previously called the Blackfan Research Center, the building has been renamed the Center for Life Science Boston by developer Lyme Properties LLC. The new building will be located on the former site of the Judge Baker Children's Center at 3 Blackfan Circle. Judge Baker relocated to a site in Mission Hill last fall. 

Lyme and Beth Israel have been hammering out details of a lease agreement since the beginning of the year. Lyme expects the Center for Life Science Boston to be completed in 2007.
