MERRY GO-ROUND ON SANTA MONICA PIER 1960 BY R.L.HUFFSTUTTER C

            This is a detail of a larger watercolor with the main subject being the old Merry Go-Round on the Santa Monica Pier. Rides on the imported wooden horses were 20 cents in 1960. And if one chose to ride in the hours after midnight, one could jump from horse to horse with beverage in hand.  I know this as a fact, having enjoyed this odd entertainment on several occasions when there was no other action available in the area. Oh, yes, those were the days, my friend, those were the days.
