Sunshine dogs asleep - a photo on Flickriver

            After a midnight binge 
in the rubbish bins 
there is not much to do 
in the warm sun except laze. 
It's too hot to trot, 
and butts dont 
interest me at the moment.
Even lamp-posts
don't invite a cocked leg
That tail of mine
won't wag.
Lying here I couldn't 
bare my teeth
even if I wanted to,
That nose of mine
is dry as a lump of coal.
Love they say
is a dog from hell.
On a day like this
Robert Johnson
can have his soul back.
In this heat there ain't
no hell-hound on his trail.
