DSC_1191 - a photo on Flickriver

            German U-Boat UB-122 was a German Type UB III submarine commissioned into the German Imperial Navy in March 1918 as SM UB-122. At the end of the war only 7 months later, UB-122 was surrendered. It is believed she was then sold to a company on the River Medway who stripped the engine for use in their industrial machinery, but when towing the now empty hull to be scrapped in around 1921 the boat broke lose and was beached on a sandbank at Bees Ness Creek on the Medway.

UB-122 is exposed twice daily with the falling tide, and at low tide it is possible - but NOT RECOMMENDED - to walk out to it. 

I did this trip, alone, in 2015, much against my better judgement. I would never advise anyone to undertake such a trip on their own. I was alright and didn't come into any difficulty, but I had planned the tides and was dressed appropriately.
