1979-08 Conrail 4800 Baltimore, MD

            "Old Rivets" was the first GG1 built by General Electric for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Built in 1934 and originally numbered 4899 it served for 45 years with the PRR, Penn Central, and Conrail. When it was finally retired in 1979 it was sold to the an NRHS chapter and placed in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. I photographed it at the Conrail Orangeville Engine Terminal in Baltimore in 1979.
