2017-02-17 1706 Nevada Northern #40, Ely, NV

            In late February I made a trip out west with my brother, Jay, and friend Dwayne. After riding and photographing the Colorado  narrow gauge railroads last September Dwayne decided we had to experience a winter photographers weekend on the Nevada Northern. After about 15 hours of travel from the East coast we arrived, sleep deprived, in Ely, NV. We staggered around the yard photographing RS3s and steam cranes, old buildings and ore cars, and we were about to run out of gas. But then the Nevada Northern crew magically transported us back in time about 100 years as the night photo session began with Baldwin 4-6-0 #40.
