The Old Dry Dock! (In Explore! 24th January 2023)

            On the south bank of the Thames, at Battersea.
The 'Dry Docks' were once very busy places up and down the Thames. 
Servicing the many working boats, particularly the 'Thames Barges'
that carried every kind of cargo that the city of London needed. 
Steam pumps in the 19th century, made a huge difference in emptying the water. 
Today, most are no longer working, but are treasured and used for permanent or temporary moorings!
