Col. Hunter celebrates final flight as a U. S. Marine Corps pilot

            U.S. Marine Corps Col. Kevin G. Hunter, the commanding officer of Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and Maj. Joshua P. Schatz, a pilot with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465, MAG-16, 3rd MAW, conduct preflight checks on a CH-53E Super Stallion assigned to HMH-465, before Hunter’s final flight at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, July 16, 2025. The final flight is a tradition that symbolizes Hunter’s last flight as a U.S. Marine Corps pilot and marked the culmination of his time as MAG-16's commanding officer, overseeing and directing expert flight instruction to both CH-53E and MV-22B aircrews and pilots from across the group.
