            An F-35B Lightning II fighter jet with U.S. Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing prepares to takeoff at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Sept. 18, 2025. Pilots aboard various aircraft at MCAS Iwakuni have to accumulate the required quantity of flying hours every month to maintain proficiency and expertise with their airframe via daily flight activities.
